About
Making the decision to downsize and move closer to our sons in the east of Scotland, we moved to Wester Campsie Farm in 2020 having previously farmed 120 suckler cows and 1000 ewes on the Isle of Bute.
Our new venture Wester Campsie Farm comprises 120 acres on the Angus/Perthshire border. Bounded on the south by the river Isla, the land ranges from remote and stunningly beautiful oak studded moorland in the west to fertile arable ground in the east, out of which we have recently created the embryo of our new flower farm.
2023 will see the first cropping of perennials planted last year offering a rich array of roses, delphiniums and lilies showing off amongst poppies, achillea and scabious and our annuals such as phlox, stocks, asters, campanula and larkspur to mention just a few. The farm is already rich in mature foliage, and we are complementing this with new plantings of trees, hedges, and shrubs.
Our flowers will be grown entirely naturally making use of the organic matter available to us from our cows and sheep and will be available only in their natural season. We will not have roses for valentine’s day, but our subscription flowers will be available to purchase all year to give a little promise of sunshine and summer sun to come.
